Message from the Superintendent

February 4, 2020

I love Monday mornings!

Baseball and softball seasons have officially started.  Maintenance and grounds personnel have been working since the beginning of July to prepare the fields for play.  The fields have been updated and given lots of attention resulting in a rich, deep, dark green playing field. Basketball season is winding down and spring sports are gearing up. Let's play ball!

The Matagorda County Fair is scheduled for the first weekend in March.  Livestock projects are getting bigger every single day. Ag. Mechanics projects, livestock projects and other fair projects all are approaching the big day and finishing touches are evident everywhere.

The HS and JH choir students recently competed in the UIL Solo and Ensemble competition.  The choir took more than 20 students to contest and competed very well winning several Superior and Excellent ratings for their efforts. HS and JH Robotics teams also recently competed and did very well.  Power lifting competed in Palacios with our teams placing 2nd and 3rd in the competition.

I love Monday mornings!  I realize that may sound strange to many people but I do, I truly do.  Don't get me wrong, I need the weekend to recharge my batteries just like everyone else, but Sunday evening, I'm already thinking towards Monday morning.  That means, early on Monday morning, I will have the opportunity to go to campuses, greet students, and encourage them.  I love my job!  I get to encourage someone every single day not just on Monday.  This is a professional and personal choice that I have made, namely to encourage someone every single day.  In order to do this, I have to keep my mind sharp and focused on the positive things around me, celebrating every single success no matter how small.  I've learned in my life, that when I focus on being grateful and appreciate everything around me...it gives me the focus and mindset to encourage those around me.

Call to Action: Make it a point to encourage two people today.  Look for the opportunity and make it happen!

For the kids,
